easy

The English press.

They hyped the hell out of an okay side and then did all they could to destroy it. Many people can point out several things that was wrong with the side but I will put it down to one thing…

A total absence of leadership on the team on the pitch. They played with fear all through out the tournament and lacked any commander on the pitch. They were a ship with out a captain.

Taking down John Terry was a mistake.  I hope the few millions made by the few newspapers in making  Terry’s private life compromise their national success was worth it.  John Terry should have captained the side. England might not have won the cup but I certainly believe they would have given a far better account of themselves.

The Terry episode ensured there were cracks in the dressing room and the team never recovered.

It was never the same team that whisked through the qualifiers.

Of course Fabio has his faults too

  • Bowing to pressure and removing Terry as captain. Steven Gerrard was as influential in that team as Theo Walcott. i.e no influence.
  • Building the team around  Rooney, was a mistake. Building any team around an individual is never a good move.
  • Preparing the team for only football for the world cup. Psychology is very important in tournaments. The English team lost this tournament in their head. They let the pressure get to them

I am sure Fabio has learnt his lesson that preparation for tournaments is very different from League competitions.  Unfortunately, he learnt that while the world cup was going on! Why did they not participate in a mini tournament before the world cup?

Capello should not be sacked though, he is a great coach

As for the players,

I would not blame them.  They were not prepared mentally.

On The Super Chickens of Nigeria:

I have nothing to say about the Super Chickens of Nigeria. Our problem is different, it is caused by what is known as called Home Trouble. It was done in a village somewhere but we do not know which village.

Amodu will qualify us for the next world cup in 2014 but it will depend on Lesotho drawing with  Egypt in Cairo on the last day of qualifiers. The NFA will sack him and get a foreign coach one month to the tournament.

His name?

Raymond ‘no level’  Domenech.

  1. Capello should not be sacked?! Oo im sorry but you are mad. Useless substitutions, 4-4-2 tactics on a world stage is a joke…NO big clubs or nations play 4-4-2…its amatuer. He treated the players like children, just the way to tick off players who already have over inflated egos.

There are more important things than football, like basic morals…so John Terry SHOULD and was rightly stripped of the captaincy. He is a disgrace and is a bad example to young English kids who look upto him. Not only did he do this off the field but his on the field attitude towards officials is a joke.

Players not prepared mentally? Dont buy into any of that rubbish. These guys play Champions League football year in year out and ALWAYS perform. Psychology? Pressure? Nonsense mate, dont buy into that rubbish Oo you are smarter than that!

Has anyone considered the notion that Lampard, Rooney, Gerrard etc etc just are not WORLD class anymore? Are these players in the same league as Messi and Ronaldo? Im not sure. Lampard is most definately NOT. Wayne Rooney, every world class player has a star quality, what is his OUTSTANDING talent? you cant say everything, so im not sure. I also blame Ferguson for his selfishness in over playing an obviously unfit and injured Rooney. Im glad they didnt win anything decent last year now.

What England really need? Every player over the age of approx 27 to go. Johnson, Rio, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, James etc etc need to go. Get in a TOP English manager. Of which we have two at present Harry Redknapp and Roy Hodgson. Roy is tactically as good as ANYONE (any man that can get Fulham to the Uefa final past Juventus, Shaktar et al is good enough for me) in the game, Harry is a chief motivator. They then need to pick the likes of Adam Johnson, Joe Hart, Dawson, Agbonglahor, Ashley Young, Jack Rodwell, Wilshire etc etc. Write off the next two tournaments and rebuild properly. They might not be worldclass now, but have the potential to become worldclass players, Hart, Rodwell, Agbonglahor, Wilshire especially. With the right manager they can then become a worldclass team over time. RANT OVER!

  4. I completely disagree… I think the both teams are hugely overrated, particularly the English team and they are loud!!!! no thanks to their media. Truth be told their players are avarage, the over emphasis of the success of the premier league has negatively affected them…. The PL football is not that spectacular, the marketing unit is!!!!!
