Iroko the Technology Company.

Anyone can buy and resell mp4 files. Basically use tech to sell media content However, not everyone can build tech i.e think of how to use high technology and solve local problems.

This move by Iroko to allow offline transfers of video files between subscribers is a brilliant mover and I am sure it will work.

Here’s the complete post.

A little anecdote.

I remember when using Symbian phones, there was this app I came across on GetJar (cannot remember the name of the app now), you could actually send the app to another phone via Bluetooth. And that person could install it and send it out.

I thought it was brilliant! I always had at the back of my mind. So when years ago we were thinking of building the an app for the defunct OnePage, it was the first thing I asked Joel not to forget.

I quickly realized that it wasn’t possible with Android and iOS. These fellows built the app store with many assumptions and one of which is, everyone has fast phones and great data. It is no surprise we are at the back seat of adoption.

For us to get our folks (“emerging markets” to move with the times, we need to use high tech to go low cal. And this Ikroko has done.

I’m sure people in other spaces will not start taking notice.

I for one never took notice of WiFi Direct or the Xender app on my phone. Now I do!

Brilliant stuff!
